Cardboard Castle, 2024

I was the assistant director of a student short film project called "Cardboard Castle". The production was held at Stray Vista Studios, Dripping Springs, Texas. My job was to organize the schedule and casting of the project. I made sure that production setup and shooting times were made in a timely manner. I was in charge of casting the Actors for our film. I made sure that team crew had their roles ready but also made sure that communication between members was clear and helpful. I loved being an assistant director, as it taught me how to confidently organize the efficiency of a film crew.

Cardboard Castle Building Process, 2024 (Exit/Entrance to Fantasy World)
Along with my 2 other colleagues, I helped build the cardboard castle that was set in the Kid's room, and other cardboard castle props for the cardboard fantasy world, such as the hallway pillar. We were donated scraps of recycled cardboard from local businesses.  I assisted in building both the main entry and exit way of the toy castle prop setup. Creating these props were a lot of fun, as the experience made me feel like a child creating something out of adventure.

Bedroom Previs Setup, Cardboard castle was modeled in Autodesk Maya 2024, decal outline image files from google images, models from SketchFab, kid model from FAB marketplace, rendered in Unreal Engine 5.4, 2024

I also helped with the early previsualization stage of what the Kid's room would possibly look like. For this test, I quickly modeled a castle and room in Autodesk Maya 2024. I made dragon and castle decal stickers on the wall to create the setting of a boy who likes medieval fantasy. I imported toy assets from Sketchfab and bedroom assets from the FAB marketplace. The strong key light was to test how the magic light of the cardboard castle would look at nighttime in this bedroom scene. This helped find errors to solve, such as the scale and composition of the Kid's room.
